Keeping the tradition alive, let's celebrate after the race on 7/31 with some good conversation, a few beverages, swimming, skiing and whatever else seems appropriate at Klunick's Cable Cabin. We are located at 43140 on County D - about 200 yards south of the Namakagon Chief.  We have many but probably not enough chairs.  Bring a munchie and your beverage and plan on a good time.  We can probably get Cheri to ski with the American flag again!  Jim and Cheri Klunick

the Pritzl/Hanson cabin will be open starting Tuesday evening for anyone who might want to come up early.  I am sure it will be first come first serve for beds.  Matt normally has those things set up.  I will have a boat up there, and poles for anyone who wants to fish.  I will also bring the bike stand and tools for Matt's ritual Friday evening bike wrenching, and cleaning.

Jim when are you heading up?

Anyone else know when they are coming up?

Brian - I will arrive at our cabin Wednesday night, 7/28.  Have chores to do before the family arrives Friday, 7/30.  I'd be interested in a moderate ride on Thursday if you or anyone else is interested.

Plan to get to Pritzl/Hanson cabin some time on Friday and will take whatever chair/couch/floorspace is available.  Hope to get up early enough to practice the run in to the finish a couple times.  I've gone grass side twice and cut one person off (and there were only 4 of us) in my previous attempts at the corner.

Due to impending move to downtown condo - I have to spend this weekend divesting myself of 25 years of material goods - however, I'm definitely up for a fall grouse hunting excursion.   Maybe even the fish will still be biting if the snow hasn't flown by Sep 15.

Regrettably, I won't be making the trip this year - knees have gone from bad to worse, not sure I cold even last 50 miles, uggg!

Doctor prescribed rest, so I've been off the bike and to the chiro and PT.

Jill, pretty sure I got a preferred start, so you can use my entry if you don't mind racing as me!

Good luck to everyone, race safe and have fun.

Sorry I'll miss it

Sorry to hear you can't do it this year Eric. Although you could always come along and partake in the annual recovery drinking routine after the race.

I'll be flying solo this year and am planing on heading up sometime Friday.

At this point, I need to make a run to Mpls Friday, so getting back over the GV by Friday night may be a un doable.
I hope you all have a good race, take photos.
I might run down to Chicago on Sunday to get my race fix in the Tour of Elk Grove. I can race in the morning and watch Chris Horner race in the Pro div later in the aft.
Safe travels to all.

So, sounds like the start line for the Firehouse 50 currently stands as:

Me
Matt
Bryan
Jill
Richard
Jim

Anyone else joining in?  Everyone doing the 35 vs. the 50?  Just noticed that Nate came in 5th in the 35 last year with basically the same average MPH as the 50.
